West Basin Municipal Water District Selects Inframark to Manage Recycled Water System
The addition of West Basin adds to Inframark’s growing presence in the Golden State.
Horsham, Pa., August 16, 2021 ─ Inframark, LLC, is pleased to announce that the company was successful in a competitive solicitation process for a three-year agreement with the West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin), located in Carson, Calif., for the operations and maintenance of the District’s recycled water distribution system. The system consists of more than 100 miles of distribution lines, including 85 miles of large diameter recycled water distribution piping, a secondary effluent line from the City of Los Angeles’ Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, and a five-mile-long brine disposal line, as well as associated pumping stations and disinfection systems. The West Basin system serves a variety of users in the service area, including municipal and local industrial needs.
Inframark has proudly operated water and wastewater treatment plants in California for more than 25 years (nearly 200 contract years). The addition of West Basin builds on Inframark’s growing presence in the state, where the company maintains its strong, cost-efficient footprint that includes operations in Central Basin, Camarillo, Huntington Park, and Perris, among several others. Notably, Inframark manages over 400 miles of distribution system in Southern California, half of which transports recycled wastewater to municipal and industrial clients for ground water recharge as well as industrial purposes.
“We are very pleased to be able to serve West Basin, a pre-eminent leader in the production and distribution of beneficial recycled water,” said Eric Sabolsice, Inframark’s West Region Vice President. “At Inframark, sustainability is a key tenet of our operational philosophy and we’re very proud to include this important project in our growing portfolio of advanced wastewater reclamation and distribution projects here in the Western United States.”
West Basin Board President Harold C. Williams, MSCE, P.E., added, “This new agreement will ensure the continued, effective operation and maintenance of the West Basin recycled water distribution system. Recycled water is more important than ever as the state and region faces worsening drought conditions.”
